NEW DELHI: It was an emotional morning for Sarfaraz Khan and his family in Rajkot as the young batter made his Test debut for India against England.
Ignored season after season despite making a plethora of runs in the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz finally had his moment on Thursday when legendary Anil Kumble handed the middle-order batter his India cap.
Soon after the official announcement of his debut, Sarfaraz ran towards his teary-eyed father and wife and hugged them both.
India skipper Rohit Sharma too congratulated Sarfaraz’s father Naushad Khan and his wife as both soaked in the moment. An emotional Naushad then asked senior pro Rohit to take care of his young lad in the team.

Sarfaraz scored a breezy 66-ball 62 on debut before suffering an unfortunate run out late in the day.
India reached 326 for 5 at stumps with Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit scoring respective centuries.
