Jimmy Sheirgill recalls being spellbound by Amitabh Bachchan’s sense of humour as Aditya Chopra introduced him for ‘Mohabbatein’ – Times of India

Jimmy Sheirgill has come a long way ever since one saw him as a young boy in love in ‘Mohabbatein‘. People still remember his character Karan and his love story with Preeti Jhangiani in the movie. For him, it was quite a big deal and a surreal world as confessed by him, in a recent interview, to be in a Yash Raj movie with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan.
The actor recalled memories on the movie and his first interaction with Bachchan.Jimmy said in a chat with Sushant Sinha that he was the last person to be finalised in the movie. He was six months late as Uday Chopra, Jugal Hansraj and the three girls (Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma and Preeti) had already been training. Unfortunately, when Jimmy was finalised, he had an injury in his hand and that’s when a ‘havan’ for the movie was organised at Yash Chopra‘s house.
He said, “When everything was finalised, a havan was organised at Yash uncle’s house. I remember that I had fallen somewhere and my hand was injured and I had 55 stitches. I was under pressure that now I will not be able to do any training. Adi (filmmaker Aditya Chopra) introduced me to Amitabh Bachchan and said ‘he is playing Karan.’ He looked at me and said ‘you are doing amazing method acting. Abhi se haath katwane lag gaye.’ For a second I couldn’t understand what was happening.”
Jimmy then recalled that Big B was referring to the fact that his character Karan in the film would get his hand hurt often just to get it bandaged by Preeti’s character. The actor praised Bachchan’s sense of humour saying, “it came without even thinking for a flash of a second.”
The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actor also shared that he had met Shah Rukh Khan also on the same day during the ‘havan’ and since then, SRK has been extremely nice and friendly with him.
